Clare Morehen is an international freelance artist, writer, coach and former Principal Artist of the Queensland Ballet. Clare was accepted into the Royal Ballet Upper School at age 15. While a student, Clare performed with the Royal Ballet and Birmingham Royal Ballet, also performing for Her Majesty the Queen at the opening of the Royal Ballet School in 2003. Upon graduation in 2004, Clare accepted a position with Queensland Ballet, where she was promoted to soloist in 2006 and principal in 2009.
In 2017, Clare followed her passion for modern work, becoming a freelance artist guesting with the Covent Garden Dance Company in London, M&T in Motion in Ethiopia, and the Melbourne Ballet Company.
Most recently, Clare was the ballet mistress for the Queensland Ballet’s Pre-°©‐Professional students and was shortlisted for ‘Outstanding Performance by a Female Dancer’ in the 2017 Australian Dance Awards.
Throughout her career, Clare performed the title roles in countless ballets including; Romeo and Juliet, Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Cinderella, La Sylphide, Coppelia, The Nutcracker, Don Quixote, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Serenade.
